Bloomsbury Spark seeking teen, YA, and new adult fiction

Posted on June 12, 2013

bbsparklogo235Bloomsbury Spark is a new global, digital imprint from Bloomsbury Publishing. Beginning in September 2013, they will be publishing a variety of fiction ebooks for teen, YA, and new adult readers. Their list will feature multiple genres: romance, contemporary, dystopian, paranormal, sci-fi, mystery, thriller, and more. YA editor Meredith Rich will supervise the imprint in the U.S.

Bloomsbury Spark is billed as a one-stop shop for getting your book published, starting with your manuscript to posting your book for sale. Services provided include editing, copyediting, proofreading, cover design, and marketing assistance.

Emma Hopkin, managing director of Bloomsbury Children’s and Educational Publishing  said: “We’ve seen a great increase in our digital sales in both the US and UK, in particular for YA titles, and we realised there was no YA-dedicated digital list, and Bloomsbury can offer local marketing around the globe for these titles.” Hopkin did not divulge details on terms offered to authors, saying only, “It is a contract specific for Bloomsbury Spark, but the contracts are fair.” Standard ebook royalty rates are offered. Specific terms of compensation will be discussed at acquisition.

They are currently accepting English language manuscripts between 25,000 and 60,000 words. Submit manuscripts in Word doc by email only.
