Boulder Writers’ Workshop presents their comedy writing contest

Can You Make Gene Perret Laugh?

Gene-PerretCalling all funny writers: get your work in front of a legend. Famed comedy writer Gene Perret has written for the biggest names in funny: Phyllis Diller, Carol Burnett, All in the Family, Welcome Back Kotter, Bob Hope and more. Read more about Gene Perret.

Gene knows funny. And he wants to see if you do, too. Personal or political, satirical or slapstick–it’s up to you.

The top ten winners and finalists for the contest will be invited to read their work at a special Boulder Writers’ Workshop event in late October in Boulder, Colorado, date and place to be announced. Colorado contest winners will be eligible to have their works published in the Flatirons Literary Review, the BWW’s new literary magazine.

Genre:  Comedy short

Word length:  1,000 words or less

1st Place – $100; 2nd Place – $75; 3rd Place – $50
The top three entries receive an in-depth critique  by Gene Perret.  The top ten entries that are by Colorado authors are eligible for publication in The Flatirons Literary Review and will receive a critique by Lori DeBoer, BWW director.

Entry fee: $10

Deadline: September 21, 2013
