Dogwood Annual Contest

Dogwood bannerDogwood: A Journal of Poetry and Prose is now open for its 2014 contest and non-contest submissions. Dogwood welcomes entries in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for its annual contest. The grand prize winner will be chosen from winners in nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Results of the contest will be announced in spring 2014 and published in the 2014 issue of Dogwood. All entrants receive an electronic PDF of the journal.

This year’s judges are:
Fiction–Sandra Rodriguez Barron, author of Stay with Me, and more
Poetry– Carmen Giménez Smith, author of Bring Down the Little Birds, and more
Nonfiction– Heather Kirn Lanier, author of Teaching in the Terrordome: Two Years in West Baltimore with Teach For America, and more

Important note: This is an anonymous contest. Your name must not appear anywhere in the manuscript or on the name of the file you submit.

Genre:  Poetry, fiction, and nonfiction

Length:  Poetry—10 pages max; Fiction and nonfiction—25 pages or less

Grand Prize:  $1,000; winners in the other two genres will receive $250 prizes

Entry fee:  $15

Deadline:  October 15, 2013
