Clarkesworld needs short SF and fantasy

clarkesworld logoClarkesworld Magazine is a Hugo Award-winning science fiction and fantasy magazine that publishes short stories, interviews, articles and audio fiction. Issues are published monthly and available on their website, for purchase in ebook format, and via electronic subscription. Original fiction is also published in an annual trade paperback series from Wyrm Publishing.

They are currently open for art, non-fiction, and short story submissions in science fiction and fantasy. “Science fiction need not be ‘hard’ but rigor is appreciated. Fantasy can be folkloric, medieval, contemporary, surreal, etc.”

Query first for all nonfiction. No reviews, interviews, literary criticism, or reprints. For more information read the Clarkesworld Nonfiction Guidelines.

Length:  1,000-8,000 words for fiction (4,000 words is preferred); 2,500 words for nonfiction

Payment:  10 cents/word for the first 4,000 words in fiction and first 2,500 words in nonfiction; 5 cents/word for each word over 4,000

Rights:  First world electronic rights (text and audio), first print rights (author must be willing to sign 100+ chapbooks), and non-exclusive anthology rights for our annual Clarkesworld anthology.
