crossed_genres_magEach Crossed Genres Magazine carries a new genre or theme. Submissions to the magazine must combine elements of science fiction or fantasy with the current theme. Crossed Genres welcomes and strongly encourages submissions with underrepresented main characters: women, characters of color, LGBTQ characters, characters with disabilities, etc.

During the month of December, they are looking for stories that combine the theme of Silent Communication with the elements of science fiction or fantasy.

Silent Communication (Submissions: December 1-31. Publication: April 2015)

Speech and text and sound are not for everyone. In fact, humans have a limited range of hearing, and some can’t hear at all. But even more, words in any language – even language itself – doesn’t work for everyone. But there is a richness of communication outside the auditory, and outside the linear. Body language, visual art, touch… all senses are open to communication for those who need it, want it, and prefer it.
