carina pressCarina Press is Harlequin’s digital-first adult fiction single-title imprint, publishing first in digital, with releases in audio and print as well. Though Harlequin is mainly known as a romance publisher, Carina Press publishes a wide range of adult fiction genres. They are very interested in and publish science fiction, fantasy and mystery, as well as niches such as steampunk, interactive adventures, male/male, time travel, Westerns and futuristics. Romantic elements are not required for genre fiction books such as mystery, science fiction, and fantasy.

 

Carina Press does NOT publish:
Nonfiction, memoirs, or biographies
Literary, faith-based, or historical fiction
Young adult
Women’s fiction
Thrillers or horror
Poetry

According to the editors:  “Your passion, quality of writing, and voice should make your manuscript stand out to be considered for publication. If you have something new and fresh in a genre we acquire, we would be happy to read your story!”

Genres and word length:
Romance (all sub genres including Historical Romance) – 50,000 and up
New Adult – 35,000 and up
Mystery and Crime (all sub genres) – 70,000 and up
Action Adventure – 35,000 and up
Science Fiction (and sub genres) – 50,000 and up
Fantasy (and sub genres) – 50,000 and up
Interactive Adventures – 35,000 and up

Payment:  40% of net digital receipts to books sold on 3rd party retail sites and 50% of net digital receipts to books sold directly on the Carina Press website.

Rights:  Grant of rights (digital, audio, print, translation, etc)

Submissions:  Online submissions only
