AcuteByDesign and PrimeTime seek author submissions

Posted on March 10, 2016

acute-by-designAcuteByDesign is a children’s publisher specializing in multicultural/diversity books. They are on the lookout for middle grade and YA fiction, but will consider all fiction and even some nonfiction for children. Their emphasis is on ethnically diverse characters: Latino, African American, Native American, Asian, etc.

AcuteByDesign is a small publishing house with three goals:

  1. To provide emerging, under-represented writers and illustrators an opportunity to publish children’s stories that showcase our diverse and multicultural world in a positive way.
  2. To provide a venue for parents to exchange great stories and for their children to access well-crafted literature featuring stories and characters that empower them to learn, laugh, cry in the language of empathy, sharing and caring.
  3. To give small grants and funding opportunities to teachers, classrooms and after-school community programs that allow staff to do their jobs more effectively while instilling the love for reading and writing in children.

AbyD accepts online submissions only. To submit your partial or full children’s book manuscript go to AcuteByDesign Submissions page.

PrimeTime logoPrimeTime, an imprint of AcuteByDesign, will launch this spring. Their publishing plans include nonfiction that will inspire, instruct, inform, and amuse. Their primary audience is readers age 50 and up. Books should contain diversity within the multicultural global community.

For nonfiction they prefer manuscripts in the 40,000-word range but will consider manuscripts of 20,000 words and up.

PrimeTime editors are also interested in logic puzzles, such as mini-mysteries that challenge the reader to solve a variety of mysteries, plus word puzzles and brain games. No Sudoku or crossword puzzles.
