Chronicle publishes fiction and nonfiction PBs

Posted on November 22, 2017

November is Picture Book Month

To celebrate Picture Book Month, watch this space for the hottest markets for submitting your picture book manuscript.

Chronicle Books
is an established independent publisher based in San Francisco. They publish an eclectic mixture of traditional and innovative children’s books. They are looking for projects that have a unique bent in subject matter, writing style, or illustrative technique. They are interested in fiction and nonfiction books for children of all ages, as well as board books, decks, activity kits, and other unusual or “novelty” formats. They also publish cookbooks, gift books, anthologies, and various other books that contain a strong visual element.

While Chronicle will consider unsolicited manuscript submissions without an agent, they do not respond to proposals unless they are interested in accepting the book. So if they have not responded within three months they are most likely not interested in your book.

Books for younger children may be submitted in their entirety without querying first. Projects for older children should be submitted by query letter, synopsis, and three sample chapters. They will also consider artwork submissions.

Queries and/or manuscripts are accepted by mail only.

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines posted at Chronicle Books Submissions.
